'TIL NEXT TIME

Play Fest. Just the thought of it has already gotten me excited, let alone actually experiencing it. The Play Festival is the time of the school year where we are made to present one play each in English and Filipino. The whole event probably highlights the whole year. So far, I have only experienced two Play Festivals and I really enjoyed them both. Although last year was so much fun because we were new at everything, this year was no less since we also encountered a lot of new challenges.
When I was just a freshman and was still new to this play thing, I thought staging a play was hard. But I was proved wrong. It was actually easy once you got the hang of it. Preparing starts with choosing a story to stage of course, then you start choosing your cast members and assigning the members of the crew. Then you start rehearsing and in no time you’ll be on stage or wherever you are assigned already having your TDR. After all of that, comes the most awaited part, the final play.
For my section, Year II – St. Elizabeth, we chose the biblical story of Esther. We watched the movie version as part of our preparation. Auditions are one of the best parts of the whole preparation. It’s where you guts are tested. People get to know if you are really brave enough to audition for a certain role even if you know that others might actually be better than you. Personally, I think that auditioning is not only about courage but also humility and staying true to your self. I’ve had experiences where in people bragged about auditioning for a certain role but ended up not even being able to have their name written on the list for those who wanted to try out. You know, it’s already enough deciding to audition even if you yourself know that you’re not capable of doing it, let alone bragging about it. But if you are really willing and you know that you’re good enough, then go for it. There’s no harm in trying. Take me for example. Last year, I auditioned for a whopping 6 times. I wasn’t killed or anything. In fact, I even learned a lot from the whole experience. I realized that although I wasn’t good enough for the role, I still have the guts to audition for them. Now that’s something you can be proud of.

To be continued…..

THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR

SAN JOSE

One family tradition which my family in my mother’s side practices is San Jose. It is really the Feast of the Holy Family but we just call it San Jose. We usually hold it during summer. This is because during the month of the Feast of the Holy Spirit, most of us are busy with school and work. My great grandmother, Lola Pilar, was the one who moved the event to summer. In this event, two grandchildren are chosen to play Mary, and Jesus, while an elder and needy man is chosen to play Joseph. Such qualifications are followed in choosing the one to play Joseph because in the end, the ones who play Mary, Joseph, and Jesus get to earn money. So we want to be able to help the one playing Joseph. The event starts with a long prayer, usually led by our grandmothers. Then, the Holy Family enters and is made to sit at a table. This happens while women, usually our Lolas, sing Spanish songs. Then, people serve food in the table where the Holy Family is seated. 2 male family members are chosen to feed Joseph and Jesus, while a female family member is chosen to feed Mary. After eating, the people go to the table and kiss the hand of the Holy Family, while doing so, they may drop money into the basket in the middle of the table. In the end, the money received or the proceeds are being given to the ones who played, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. Every year, each family in our clan takes turns in taking care of the whole affair and hosting the event. The benefits we get from this tradition is that our devotion to the Holy Family is strengthened. It is also a time where almost all of our family members are present. This event enables us to have deeper faith and be united in prayer.

BLUE MOON

At the night, of her 40th birthday, Patricia went to her balcony and sat at a bench. She shivered in coldness as something warm covered her body. She looked down and saw a beautiful shawl over her shoulders. “Happy birthday Mom! Do you like it?” her daughter, Ella, said. “Oh! Dearest daughter, it’s wonderful!” Patricia replied. They both sat down at the bench and looked up only to see a big and bright blue moon, to their surprise. From then on, every night, after supper, they would go to the balcony, chat with each other, and stare at the beautiful moon. This continued until they reached a time when Patricia was already an old woman, and Ella, a mature woman herself.  At this point of Patricia’s life, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Since the diagnosis, Ella felt very alone and helpless even with her mother still living with her. Patricia would often look at Ella blankly and not remember anything no matter how hard Ella tried to remind her. As time passed by, Patricia forgot all about Ella, and she didn’t go to the balcony anymore. She even stopped wearing the shawl her daughter gave to her. The blue moon had no more significance to her. The day came when it was Patricia’s 85th birthday. Ella stared at her mother in pain while Patricia lay in bed very weak and silent. She was surprised when her mother suddenly went up as if she was never sick. Patricia went to the balcony and sat at the bench. She gave a long blank stare at something in the distance. Ella went out bringing her mother’s shawl with her. She put the shawl on her mother’s shoulders just like she did 25 years ago. Patricia gave her a blank stare. Ella cried in pain. As Patricia looked up to the sky, she saw a big and bright blue moon. She suddenly remembered everything. She remembered who the crying woman beside her was, and how the shawl on her shoulders used to be so meaningful to her. Ella was relieved and so they did the same thing they used to do before: sit down and have heart to heart talks. They also stared at the beautiful blue moon. Unfortunately, that was the last blue moon Patricia saw, for after she fell asleep that night, she never woke up again.

As I was browsing over my files earlier, I saw this story Janina Llaguno and I made over a year ago. It was an assignment we had for Journalism. We were instructed to tell a story where in the words shawl and moon must be used. This story brought back memories of the fun we had last year in Journalism where we had to make these stories and poems with our imagination as our limit. Our creativity was surely enhanced.

Powerpuff Girls

I’m sure by now you already know of the latest fad in Facebook. It’s the campaign against child abuse where in you change your profile picture to a cartoon character you were fond of watching when you were little. A lot of people followed this, including me. Although I’m not that ‘old’ yet, but it did bring back memories of my pre-school days.
I chose the picture of Buttercup from Powerpuff Girls. I chose her because when I was still small, I was very fond of watching Cartoon Network and one of the shows which I became an avid fan of was Powerpuff Girls. I thought they were really cute including Mojo Jojo, the main villain who was a green monkey that wore this head dress where you can see his brain. The show had very unique characters including Professor Utonium who acted as a parental figure to the girls. There’s also the Mayor of Townsville who is very short and is fond of pickles. His secretary, Ms. Sara Bellum, is a very peculiar character. She mostly handles anything the mayor can’t and her face was never shown. Only her red suit and red hair could be seen. I have to say though that the most memorable character for me besides the girls would be Him. Him is a devil-like creature with crab-like claws, red skin, pointy ears, a curled beard, and a hooked nose. What would scare me the most about Him is his very scary voice which would either be high-pitched or very deep.
There are certain happenings that would just be so clear in my mind even until now. One of them was the day when I was still in pre-school and my friends and I were at the playground. We figured to play Powerpuff girls and I randomly took the role of Buttercup. I even remember one of our male classmates playing the role of Mojo Jojo. We would run around and play on the swings.  One time, I even pushed myself too high that I fell to the ground. Those days were surely fun.

THE AGLET

The aglet. Have you ever heard of this word before? Well, the word aglet means the end of a shoelace. You know, that cylinder plastic thing covering the end of a shoelace. You might think this word is not worth knowing but actually, it might help you someday.
The aglet is just one of the countless things I have learned from television. Just a week ago, my brother was watching Phineas and Ferb and so I decided to join him. The episode we watched started with Phineas and Ferb’s father playing a word cross puzzle. One question said something about the end of a shoelace. None of them new and so the two boys checked it in the internet. To make the long story short, the word aglet was made very popular by the two said boys and as usual when Candice, their sister, was just about to tell their mom about what nuisance the boys have been doing, everything goes back to normal.
The fact that watching tv can earn you a lot of knowledge is undeniable. But viewing television also has its limitations. Some shows are very informative while some are just plain useless. We should always be careful of what we watch. We may think they are harmless but unconsciously, what we see is already starting to influence us.

PLAY

It's October already. Which means that we are once again nearing The Play Fest. This event is one that is always looked after by almost everyone. An Assumption school year would never be complete without a Play Fest.

The wonderful memories I have staging The Stiletto Club and Ibong Adarna with my classmates are still fresh in my mind. I am so excited over the fact that we will once again be doing countless auditions and casting. The actresses will again be cramming to memorize their lines. And the directress will again have wrinkles on her forehead. Yes, the play does cause a lot of tension and stress to everyone, but it is the great moments we get to have with each other that really pay off. I just can’t wait!

XOXO....Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl Season 4 has surely got me all excited! Watch out Chuck and Blair fans. Let's still hope for the best!

WEIRD BUT TRUE

My Aunt who lives in Austria has subscribed for National Geographic Kids magazine for me about 5 years ago. Ever since, I would receive Nat Geo Kids magazines monthly although it only lasted for about 3 years. I collected them and now, I already have more or less 60 magazines. These magazines have been very useful and entertaining. They provide a lot of new information about animals, us humans, and many more! My favorite section in every magazine is the Weird but True page. It is in this page where you can find 10 or more outrageous facts that are very hard to believe but are certainly true. Here is an excerpt from one of my Nat Geo Kids magazines that I received last May 2007:

Weird But True Facts:
1.
It would take about 3 years of nonstop pedaling to bike to the moon.

2.      Koalas and humans have similar fingerprints.

3.       A waterfall in Hawaii sometimes goes up instead of down.

Most experts believe that birds descended from dinosaurs.

5.       Earth travels about 1.6 million miles everyday.

6.       The first telephone answering machine was 3 feet tall.

7.       The United States once issued a 3-cent bill.

8.       Certain sharks walk on their fins underwater.

9.       Dirty snow melts faster than clean snow.

10   On sunny days, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, leans toward shade.

11    Parachutes were invented before airplanes.

12    The Liberty Bell weighs more that 2,000 pounds.

13    There is a village called zigzag in Oregon.

14    Some moths drink tears of elephants.

BIBLE CAMP

“Bible Camp? Psssh. What the heck is that about? I bet people there would just be praying all day.” This is what I first thought about the Bible camp. But when the teacher announced that it’ll be 2 nights and 3 days long, only then did I take interest. The thought of having an opportunity to sleep somewhere else with schoolmates for that long just seemed so rare. Thus, I started to consider things. Just when I was about to say yes already, I realized that I had to make a serious decision. I had to choose whether to go to Manila or attend the Bible camp. It was hard for me to choose because it has been a long time since I have been to Manila and boy did I miss it there. But I could always go to Manila some other time. And besides, my family would still be going so I can still have them get something for me. Hence, I chose to attend the Bible camp and I can say that I never regretted it.
Ever since that day I confirmed that I was going, I just grew more and more excited. I was even more thrilled when I started to recognize the people who were also joining. When it was finally the night before we were bound to leave for Holy Rosary Academy (the host school of the event) I was too excited that I crammed. I ended up packing my things at about 10:00 pm and slept at around 11:00 pm. But I barely had any sleep because of too much excitement.
As we entered HRA, we were welcomed with students lined-up at the sides waving flags and greeting us with welcomes. We then went to our designated room carrying our luggage and sleeping bags. I was quite surprised to find out that there were all in all 1,000 plus delegates. By the way, during the raising of school banners, which was sort of a race, we were second. (Yey!)
Since we were new to the event, we were sort of unprepared. So, while the other schools had pretty cool cheers and entertaining animations (intermission numbers), Assumption had a very simple cheer and simple numbers. In one of our animations, we performed the ‘square dance’ which I have learned to like since the Centennial Fair. For the Bible sharing, we had to be separated and I was devastated when I knew that I was the only Assumptionista in our group. But it actually turned out pretty fun especially because my group mates were very friendly and entertaining. Friendship hour is also a memorable experience because it was in this event where all delegates were gathered in the field and we were told to roam around make as many friends as we can. We also had this Bonfire which was pretty cool. I loved it when all the lights were turned off because then did I realize how pretty the moon was. It was so bright and round. When the fire was lit, we did the Exodus walk which is a choreographed walk. We held each other’s hands and walked in a spiral form doing the Exodus. It was sooooo cool. One thing I also like about the camp was the nightly dancing. There was dance music played every night at the field and we would dance and mingle with the other students.
I found our daily routine very funny though. It began when we had our first night there. My friends and I wanted to refresh ourselves after the long day so we went to the bathroom. But after seeing the long lines, we started to hesitate. So instead of getting in line, we decided to wait until the bathroom nearer to our room was vacant. Even if it was already around 11:00 pm, we still persevered to wait. While waiting, we just watched a movie from Mr. Secular’s laptop and ate midnight snacks. We ended up taking a bath at around 1:00 am. We were too excited though that we weren’t able to sleep until about 2:00 am because we kept on playing and joking around.
It will probably be too long if I write about the whole experience. There’s just too many to talk about. One this is for sure though. I never regretted joining the Bible Camp because it was in this event where I learned how to appreciate my religion. It was here where I learned that as a mere student, I could also do a lot of simple things like being a good steward of nature and a good steward for others that can make a big change. I learned to adjust to my surroundings and to enjoy even at times of discomfort. And I know how to respond to people of different personalities because of this wonderful experience. I can really say that this camp has left a good impact on me.

KATORSE

My brother, Andrei, and I celebrated only one party since his
birthday is only 6 days away from mine.
A picture of me giving tokens to my guests.

My 14th birthday will surely be very memorable. =)
It’s such a nice feeling when you know you have just made other people feel special. It’s just so wonderful to see others happy because of your efforts. This is what I felt when I celebrated my 14th birthday last May 14, 2010, at the Gawad Kalinga Center of Ajuy, Iloilo.
My 14th birthday was quite different from my other birthdays. This is because instead of inviting friends, I invited people I barely know. In fact, it was only during that celebration when I first saw their faces. Instead of watching a movie or going swimming, I had a children’s party with children who were needy. And instead of receiving gifts, my family and I were the ones who gave gifts. But in a way, I also received great gifts, that is, in the form of realizations.
I celebrated my birthday by gathering all the beneficiaries of the Gawad Kalinga Community of Ajuy and having a simple meal and games. I was quite charmed when some of the children surprised me with a dance number that they prepared. We had bihon, bread, juice, cake, and ice cream for food. After eating, we played games. Lots of games. For prizes we gave away toys, some new and some old, and other useful things. Actually, my mother was the one who suggested this kind of party. When she said her suggestion, I never hesitated and said yes immediately because I have been longing to do something like this for a very long time already.

To be honest, no matter how simple the celebration was, it made me shed a few tears. It’s because it was just so overwhelming to see the children who barely even know me be somehow very excited and happy. I’m sure it was the very first time for some of them to witness a birthday party. They had this innocence and great joy in their eyes whenever they received a toy or a token which made me very emotional.
My birthday celebration made me appreciate more my family and friends and what I have. I am the kind of person who wants a lot of things and I often find it hard to let go of the things that I don’t need anymore. This event has made me realize that even in the simplest way of life, you can still be happy. You can still be happy even without those gadgets, clothes, shoes, bags, etc. I realized that sometimes, that the things that I may consider worthless or take for granted are things that others need but can’t even have. My birthday has opened my eyes to the reality that I have no right at all to complain whenever I don’t get what I want or when some things are not good enough because others don’t even have access to their needs. While I keep on complaining that I don’t have the right kind of shoes to pair with my shirt, there is someone out there who doesn’t even have slippers or worse, does not even have feet but is still very contented. I have made a promise already to be contented and to be happy with what I have. On top of it all, I realized that true happiness is not gained when you receive something. It is gained when you give what you have especially to the needy.

ADRENALIN RUSH

I love adrenalin! I love it when your heart suddenly beats very fast and you get too excited you can barely walk. This is what I mostly experience when I am about to ride a roller coaster. I don't know for you, but for me, roller coasters are one of my favorite things to ride on. You have to be a daring person to ride on one and even if you go on one for several times, it never fails to thrill you. I have learned to love them ever since I was about 9 years old. My day would never be complete if I find myself in an amusement park and not be able to go on the daring rides.
My first vacation to the US was when I was 9 years old and it was during this trip where I took my first ride on a big roller coaster at Adventure Island, Florida. It was called the Hulk Ride and it was probably the biggest and fastest roller coaster I have ever been on. I found it pretty cool when the people waiting in line and the attendants clapped for us after we finished the ride because they said we lived to tell the story of how it feels like to be on the Hulk Ride.
The Kraken, Sea World, Florida. The ride where I got too scared  that I was only able to shout at the near end of the ride.

The Hulk, Adventure Island, Florida. Probably the tallest roller coaster I have ever been on.

Dueling Dragons, Universal Studios, Florida. The ride where you have to choose between the Fire Dragon or the Ice Dragon. I remember riding on this one twice because I wanted to ride on the Fire and Ice Dragon.

The Mummy, Universal Studios, Florida. I kept my eyes closed  during almost half of the ride because I was too scared. Even with eyes closed, the ride was still pretty darn terrifying.

Voodoo, Discovery Kingdom Six Flags, California. I still managed to do a peace sign while being tossed around and around in this dizzying ride.

The Boomerang, Discovery Kingdom Six Flags, California. This ride is called the Boomerang because after one full ride, you will still go for a second round only this time, backwards.

Of course, roller coasters wouldn't be possible without amusement parks. Universal Studios, Florida ; Island Adventure, Florida ; Disneyland, Hong Kong ; Disney World, Florida ; Sea World, Florida ; Ocean Park, Florida ; Six Flags, California ; and Downtown Disney, Los Angeles, are among the thrilling amusement parks I have been to.

ECLIPSE

The 3rd movie of Twilight Saga, Eclipse, was recently released. My friends and I watched it on its first premier day. I got so agitated and thrilled that I watched it again 2 days after. I really expected a lot from Eclipse because the past two movies, New Moon and Twilight, disappointed me. Twilight for me seemed a little too glum. New Moon was very incomplete. They did not include the good parts. Gladly, Eclipse did not disappoint me at all. Although I think some of its actors and actresses did not do much of a good job, I still liked how the movie turned out to be.

If I were to critique the movie, I would say it is pretty good. I thought the meadow looked beautiful and the fighting scenes were very cool. The house of the Cullens looked even more sophisticated and amazing. The locations they picked were very fitting for the scenes and the songs and sound effects were perfect. My top favorite scenes of the movie include: (not in any particular order)

·      1. The scene where Jacob went to Forks High School to see if Bella was still human. Jacob’s smile was so cute when Bella decided to go with him to the reservation. =)
·    2.When it was Alice’s turn to practice with Jasper in preparation for the upcoming fight with the new borns. They were so cute! I made a tiny shriek when they kissed. =D
·      3.I so loved the dialogue between Edward and Jacob when they were inside the tent the night before the fight took place. Everybody in the theater laughed when Jacob said to Edward: “I am hotter.” And “Bella is in love with you. But she’s in love with me too.” I really envied Bella because it was in that scene where you can really see how much both Jacob and Edward love her.
·     4.The fighting scene between the Cullens and the wolves, and the new borns. I really liked the outfit of the Cullens. Although I thought you are supposed to tear the whole body apart. Not the head nor the arms only.
·       5.When the Cullens and the wolves practiced for their fight with the new born army.
·
Note: Though it may be more entertaining to watch movies, I think it is always good to read the book. That is if the movie is based on a novel or book. Basing on experience, the story in the book is always better.

NANCY DREW

Call me old school, but hey, Nancy Drew does excite me. =)

Nancy Drew is a collection of mystery books written by Carolyn Keene. It has over 63 mystery books already and maybe even more. I have come to like them ever since my mom introduced them to me. I bought my first Nancy Drew book when I was about 9 years old. Even though it was only about 200 pages, it took me a long time to finish it. And by long I mean about 4 months. I would read, get bored, stop, and read again. That’s why is took me so long to finish. It was my first ever thick fiction book. I have over 14 Nancy Drew books already. But I have not read any for a while.

For those who are not familiar with Nancy Drew, here is a brief summary made by yours truly:

A classic and timeless sleuth, Nancy Drew is popularly known as a modern day latte drinking heroine. She has a great character-witty, resourceful, independent, and careful. She is eighteen years old, and the daughter of well-known lawyer Carson Drew. Motherless since she was 3, Hannah Gruen, the family’s housekeeper, has become a maternal figure to her since then. The Drews live in the nice neighborhood of River Heights. Nancy no longer goes to school and dedicates most of her time in solving mysteries.

If on sleuthing activities, she would often be accompanied by cousin, Bess Marvin and friend, George Fayne. Bess Marvin is a bubbly and timid girl. She is often attracted to boys and is easily scared. George on the other hand, is a boyish athlete and unlike her cousin Bess, she is very daring.

But Nancy Drew isn’t only about solving mysteries, there is also some sort of a love story. If Twilight has an Edward Cullen, Nancy Drew has a Ned Nickerson. Often present with Dave Evans and Burt Eddelton, who are also linked to Bess and George respectively, Ned is a football player from Emmerson College. I like him very much because he is well mannered and not cheesy like other leading guys from other books. He would also help Nancy on her mysteries and patiently respects the fact that her mysteries are very important to her.

Whether in the middle of solving a case of a disappearance or visiting friendly jewelers and bakers for clues, Nancy’s life would always be full of excitement!

HAPPY TUMMY

I love food. I love how food can have a lot of varieties. If only I could, I would taste every single cuisine there is out there.
During our most vacation, I believe I really kept my tummy happy. From the steaks and king crabs, to the In N Out burgers and milkshakes, to the fish and chips and seviche at the beach; I have to tell you, it was one great food trip. I really enjoyed eating those huge American sized meals. But from all those dishes that we ate, only one stood out. It was the SEA URCHIN. I know, it sounds very peculiar to hear a person (or in your case, read about a person) claiming that he/she has already tasted a sea urchin because here in the Philippines, adobong manok, and milkfish are the usual dishes; not sea urchin. This is probably because the local sea urchin here has lots of dangerous spikes. The one we ate did have spikes, but those spikes were blunt and not poisonous. In America, they serve it uncooked and cold. Not to mention they also serve it alive and still moving. I was so excited to taste it. It was still moving when I savored my first spoon. To be honest, I thought it would taste sweet. But it didn’t. It tasted sort of creamy and…otherwise, unexplainable. I think, it tastes…ok.
I am glad that during one of my family's vacations, I was also able to eat a lot of local Thai food and drinks like the Thai Iced Tea (which is one of my favorites), and a snack made of coconut milk and corn that is then fried in the form of tiny balls. We were also able the go to the floating market and eat local spring rolls and local pomelo with some kind of sweet orange powder.
One of my goals in life is to travel to exotic places around the world. Namely: Europe, India, Africa, etc. How I wish I can fulfill this goal. If ever I do, I would make sure that I will try to eat only the local food.
It is one of my dreams to go to India and eat there. Their cuisine is just so delicious and mouth watering. I also want to go to Korea and eat bibimbap and bulgogi. Korean cuisine has really impressed me because their dishes are so well balanced and healthy. But of all the countries with rich cuisines, our very own Philippine cuisine is what really makes my tummy really happy (we have the best lechon). For me, our local cuisine is the best.

MEET MY FEET

My sister and I have started to become avid fans of casual shoes. (namely, Ked’s) They are just so comfortable to wear and are very versatile. You can wear them with almost anything: with jeans on a casual day, or with a cute dress. They have also become very popular. It’s like bringing back the classics.
During our recent vacation, we were able to shop at 3rd Street Promenade, Sta. Monica, LA. I really liked it there. Not only was almost every brand that I love found there, there were also a lot of entertainers. There were numerous people standing at the center of the closed street showing off their flairs. It was such a fun venue. Anyway, as we continued to look around, my sister and I came across a Steve Madden store. As we entered, we saw these flats that we immediately fell in love with. We just got so excited and tried them on right away. The shoes looked like shoes from the old times, only they came in many bright colors. They were just so adorable we ended up buying 2 pairs, green and red.
I have to admit. I am a shoe lover. I love looking at shoes and wearing them. I like the fact that our shoes can somehow tell people something about us. Shoes just make my feet happy.
My feet aren’t the only body parts that are happy though. I am able to manage to also keep my toes at constant blissfulness by giving them a touch of color. For me, wearing dazzling nail polish is also like wearing a gorgeous pair of shoes. They show some kind of attitude.
Most of my nail polish come in bold colors like aqua blue, hot pink, red, etc. I like bold colors because they really stand out. When on a long vacation, I also like putting nail polish on my finger tips. I know for one that I am not the only teen age girl who likes putting on nail polish. Most of us girls do. But watch out. Too much nail polish can also be bad for the nails. Whenever you buy nail polish, always remember to check if there are any harmful chemicals in it. And also keep in mind to remove nail polish after 2 weeks or else your nails will turn yellow. Using a base coat is also important because they prevent your nails from turning violet. Top coats provide a better shine and prevents your nail polish from chipping.
Nail polish and shoes go very well together; especially when you are wearing open sandals. One tip is to use light nail color when using dark colored sandals like black. When using light colored sandals like white, use bold colors. This highlights your toes.
(This last part may not be connected to my title anymore but I still would like to share with you my thoughts on appearance)
Although nail polish and shoes add a nice touch to your appearance, opting for a simple look always makes a person even more beautiful. Even if it is not about clothing, always choose to be simple. It is nice to enjoy the good things in life but simplicity for me, is one of the best virtues a person can have. It is ok to care about your looks but always remember that looks aren’t that important. It is what is in the inside that matters the most. For me, while all these clothing keep my body happy, simplicity is what keeps my heart and God happy. Always keep in mind: SIMPLICITY IS BEAUTY. =)

I AM A SOPHOMORE

I know, I know. Writing about being a sophomore is probably very cliché by now. But hey, starting a new school year with new classmates is really something worth reflecting about.

I still remember the last day of school year 2009-2010 like it was just yesterday. Classmates hugging there, classmates crying here; it was one pretty emotional day. But I have to admit though; all that hugging ang crying was really worth it. Right now, I really miss my former section. I think it’s mainly because my classmates before are just so different from my classmates right now. I am not used to it. But I’m not saying that my new section is boring. If you come to think of it, having a new set of classmates is quite fun. Besides, it’s not like you won’t ever see your former classmates anymore. The good thing about being separated into different sections is that you get to be reunited with your other former classmates and make new friends at the same time. Having new teachers is also a great experience.

Now that I’m a sophomore, I kind of made a new school year’s resolution list. This time, I promise to wake up when it’s time to wake up and not wait for five more minutes. I would also try to have a healthier diet. And of course, I promise to try to be a better student. I’ll do my assignments as soon as possible and now, I will study harder.

There are really a lot of changes this time. One new thing worth mentioning is the requirement of having a blog. At first I was kind of hesitant because when you post something on your blog, you don’t have that much privacy unlike when you just write on a diary. But I am really starting to like this whole make a blog thing. It enhances my creativity and I feel liberated. It’s really fun.

With all the exciting things happening in just the first two weeks of school, I am really very anxious and eager to see what is in store for me this year, especially because it is now the 100th year of Assumption-Iloilo. But since I’m not psychic and cannot tell the future, I guess I’ll just wait. It’s good to be anxious about tomorrow, but enjoying every moment day by day is the best way to live life. May SY 2010-2011 turn out to be a very memorable and great school year.
